The HAMMS project seeks the involvement of multi-stakeholders across all regions in Ethiopia and beyond the territory to Sudan and Djibouti and collaborator institutions from the UK and USA. These stakeholders have different interests and stakes in the project and need to bring them on board before commencing the project activities to engage them and ensure their commitment to the successful implementation of the project.

As indicated in the project proposal document, the HAMMS project will steer the academic and public institutions to have a university-malaria program network. For this purpose, the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia and NMEP, academic vice presidents of eight universities, Regional health bureau and Public Health Research institutions, Ethiopian Public Health Institution (EPHI), National Food and Drug Authority, Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute, Ethiopian Bio and Emerging Technologies Institute, Ethiopia Customs Commission, PMI/ICAP, PATH, BMGF Country Office, Africa CDC, WHO AFRO, participants from Sudan and Djibouti were invited for the HAMMS project kick-off meeting held on December 01 and 02, 2023 at Addis Ababa, Elilly International Hotel. In the kick-off meeting, outputs of previous BMGF funded projects (EMAGEN and ACHIDES) and the HAMMS project objectives and required areas of collaboration and engagement were presented and discussed among the participants. It was also crucial to introduce the project to the local stakeholders and ensure their engagement along the implementation process.
